Hi folks, I was sent this from Kathy Selvage of the Southern Appalachian Mountain Stewards in Wise after she spoke at our town hall meeting in Alexandria. I have heard that there are rumblings of a resolution concerning the Wise County plant emerging in Alexandria and Fairfax.

An open letter to the community of Alexandria:

I came to Alexandria recently to participate in a Feb. 5th town hall meeting called “Tale of Two Coal Plants” with Congressman Jim Moran , the Vice-Mayor Del Pepper, and Ana Prados of the Sierra Club.

Alexandria is a lovely city and I found all that I interacted with to be the most gracious of people. I appreciate every courtesy that was extended to me by CCAN, Sierra Club, and the residents of the area.

We have a common goal, you know! We want the Mirant Power Plant to close and the Wise County Power Plant to never be built so that we can help the state of Virginia move toward a clean energy future
