Background:
The Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) is the first grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Our mission is to build and mobilize a powerful grassroots movement in this unique region that surrounds our nation’s capital to call for state, national, and international policies that will put us on a path to climate stability.
We envision a country where clean energy sources, such as solar and wind power, are prioritized and dirty fossil fuels are phased out; where our world is on a path to 350 ppm CO2 in the atmosphere, creating a stable, sustainable climate.
Our fellowship program is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the inspiring and effective field of grassroots advocacy and organizing. Throughout your fellowship, we will offer you specific skills trainings, such as recruiting and training volunteers, working with the media, and planning a winning campaign. As a CCAN fellow, you will be a valuable team member with a lot of responsibility. Fellows are supervised and trained by CCAN staff with proven experience in organizing and policy.
Grassroots organizing is at the center of all we do at CCAN. We have seen time and again the power that citizens hold; we wield that power to influence key decision makers throughout the region to move us toward a clean energy future. We are seeking passionate, self-driven applicants to help us continue to win on these critical issues.
