Born in the rural highlands of Guatemala and raised in the not-so-highlands of northern Indiana, Nathan Kauffman has a desire to spread distributive justice to the poor and oppressed in society.  He believes that working to stop global warming, and thereby averting its disastrous effects that disproportionately affect the world’s poor, is the way he can have the greatest positive impact on the world.  He also loves politics and has dreamed of working in Washington, D.C. since he was in seventh grade.

After interning with CCAN, Nathan now works as CCAN’s Executive Assistant and Special Projects Coordinator.  He graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a major in History and Social Science and minors in Political Studies, Pre-Law, and Justice Peace & Conflict Studies.  During his time at EMU, Nathan also served as a student body senator, led the student pre-law society, and edited the Weather Vane, the student newspaper.

Nathan wishes he was interested in something exciting but, in reality, has been known to sit on his porch and listen to NPR for hours at a time.
