As a native of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Communications Director Jamie Nolan grew up with a deep regard for the environment and people of the Chesapeake Bay region, which guided her choice to join the CCAN team.

Jamie graduated summa cum laude from Radford University with a B.S. in communication, where she won the Public Relations Student Society of America’s National Gold Key Award for excellence in leadership and academics. Jamie also holds a M.A. in public relations from the University of Miami, where her thesis, “Consensus and Controversy: Climate Change Frames in Two Australian Newsletters,” focused on trends in Australian print media coverage of climate change from 1997 to 2007.

Prior to joining CCAN, Jamie worked at public relations agencies in North Carolina and Virginia. She worked on accounts in diverse industries including food service, real estate, hospitality, and consumer technology. To quell her political activist streak while working in the corporate world, Jamie helped co-found a chapter of Young Democrats and volunteered for various political and non-profit groups.

When not standing atop her clean energy soapbox, Jamie enjoys cooking, interior design, and planning her next getaway.

For the first time ever, the Obama Administration and the EPA are proposing national limits on carbon pollution from new coal plants. This is a step in the right direction for combatting climate change, and the EPA should be commended for taking a stand against polluters. Carbon pollution is a primary cause of climate change and is also a significant contributor to health hazards like the smog that triggers asthma attacks.
