New to the environmental movement, Cathy founded the Climate Action Alliance of the Valley, a grassroots group in Harrisonburg, VA, that focuses on political action and public education. This activity sprang from three months of volunteering after hurricanes over a period of three years in Granada and Biloxi, MS. Latest climate action: being arrested at the White House tar sands action August 23, 2011.
Educational background: BS in Nursing, VCU, M.Ed. in Counselor Ed., JMU, Ed.S. in Counselor Ed., UVA. Cathy has held various jobs including 14 years as a counselor at Harrisonburg High School but is now retired. Cathy has a lifetime of activism in the women's movement and the Democratic Party under her belt. Reward for all of her efforts? A husband, son, CCAN board appointment and sailboat in Deale, Md.
Cathy has served on the CCAN board since 2011.
